her Story...

Kintsugi Hand

Marina Mil-Homes, with Portuguese roots and a German education shaped by discipline and precision, has spent more than a decade living and working in different regions of Spain. Her artistic fine-tuning took place when she relocated to Israel. But life sometimes has other plans...and unexpectedly she found herself living and creating again in Ibiza.

Picture a floating atelier in the harbor—Exactly this makes her creations as unusual as her workplace sounds! A serene & creative space where forgotten treasures, primarily broken instruments, undergo a glamorous makeover!

Inspired by the wisdom of Japanese philosophies, Marina embraces the allure of brokenness, particularly through her admiration for Kintsugi—the art of mending shattered pottery with gold. The philosophy behind it, is rooted in the belief that scars can make an object even more beautiful and valuable, highlighting the beauty in imperfection. It aligns with the philosophy of wabi-sabi, which finds beauty in the impermanent, modest, and incomplete.

But wait, there’s more! her commitment to sustainability is also a vital aspect of her practice. By breathing in new life in forgotten or shattered objects, she not only honors their past but also advocates for a more mindful approach to art and consumption.

Because, why not make art that’s not just pretty & exquisit but also packed with meaning?

Through global charity events, exhibitions, and collaborations, Marina ignites vibrant discussions about celebrating the beauty of imperfections and the magic of the unexpected. Her (he)art whispers that every defect and flaw can blossom into a wellspring of strength and inspiration, inviting us to delve deeper and appreciate the profound stories that lie beneath the surface of her pieces.

In a world obsessed with perfect filters, Marina’s artistry is a vibrant shout-out to embrace our imperfection's. She reminds us that our scars are not just marks—they're badges of honor.

We are delicate beings but not "unrepairable".

A reminder that our breaks, our cracks, and the places where we have glued ourselves back together are a part of who we become.

Her artistic vision consists in smashing down barriers, shatter clichés and spread positive energy, celebrating strength and resilience. Turning the destructive into constructive and the irreparably broken into a precious new chapter of life.
